LIGHT SWITCH

Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light. Micah 7:8 (NIV)

Your hands are stretched out before you, hoping to touch something familiar.  Your eyes are straining trying to make out something but you can’t see anything.  You get the weird sensation in your stomach.  Not as bad as when you’re flying down a rollercoaster drop but close to it.  It’s fear.  Ever been there…walking around in pitch darkness in unfamiliar territory?  Not wanting to fall into something or smack into something.  We begin to ask ourselves the internal questions:  Am I going the right way?  Is there something out there that will “get me?”  What’s up ahead?  Is it what I want or what I don’t?

Darkness is a perfect illustration of what life is apart from God.  You’re hopeless; you don’t know where you’re going.  Is it the right way?  And is there something out there that will get you?

But light is the remedy for darkness.  It rescues those living in darkness.  It restores us to gladness, freedom, happiness, direction and hope.

So what are you walking in today?  In looking forward do you feel fear?  Are you clueless where to go next?  Do you feel hopeless for what tomorrow holds?  Do you believe there’s something out there that will get you?  Then turn on the Light.  Invite God into your right now.

Questions to consider:
What are you afraid of and why?
How do you feel about the future and why?
How do you “turn on the Light” to your right now situation?
