Let’s talk about sacred raisin cakes. They might sound like a harmless, delicious snack. But they’re not. They’re evil!
Instead of pursuing God, Israel turned to other gods and loved the sacred raisin cakes. These raisin cakes were used in idol worship. They illustrate the sweetness of sin on one hand but also the dryness of sin on the other. Sin might taste good but it’s dry, lifeless and worthless. Israel rejected the True Vine, Jesus, and pursued lifeless and worthless idols.
There is nothing better than drawing near to your spouse and being in perfect unity. There’s life there. Yet there’s always an enemy at work trying to bring death to your marriage, always trying to sabotage what God wants to strengthen. So here’s my question for you today: What are the sacred raisin cakes of your marriage? What things try to pull you away from drawing near to your spouse? They may seem sweet but they’re deadly, dry, and worthless. If your marriage seems dry and lifeless you might need to seek out the dry raisin cakes you’ve been snacking on and throw them out!
