18 Who is a God like you…You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.Micah 7:18 (NIV)
“Comparisons.” They are so helpful in describing what things are like to people who don’t know: Cauliflower is like albino broccoli. Pants are like a shirt for your legs. A gyro is a Greek taco. A Puerto Rican is a lot like a Mexican that talks faster. A jalapeno is a painful cucumber. A cat is almost like a dog yet with a lot of attitude. But God… God’s like… That’s not a sentence you can end. “Who is a God like You?” No one. Nothing. He is incomparable. Not just because of Who He is but also because of what He does.
He pardons perversity
The word “sin” is the word ‘avon which is not pronounced like the women’s skin care and makeup company but pronounced aw-vone. It simply means moral perversity. God pardon perverts. Now before you get offended or think I’m definitely not talking about you, let me remind you what “to pervert” means. It means to overturn or subvert (overthrow something established or existing), to turn to improper use; misapply. A pervert is someone who’s doing something they were never meant to do. That’s why Romans 6:13 tells us: “Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.”
If you’ve ruined your life, doing what you were never meant to, or created to do, the good news is there is an incomparable God who pardons perverts.
